Do you guys ride bikes in the winter?
The last three days it's been snowing constant here in Trondheim.
It started the wery day i got my license(just turn'd 16) The ground is cover'd in three feet of snow. But it doesn't stop me from riding. I've been waiting for almost three years now to ride on the road, and when the day finnaly comes it starts to snow.
I'm not riding my rebel ofcourse, i need another license for that one....but i'm allowed to ride a 50cc moped. Mine is a Norwegian made Tempo from 1973. And it runs great (tops arround 35mph  ) hehe, okay maybe not the fastest bike arround but it does it work just fine. I'm riding on old summer tires from -73 and the front tire is only 1 1/2 inch wide, so i have to stop in every single turn to avoid falling. There's no need for the brakes at all because they just lock the wheels and make you loose controll, so both feet are i the ground at all time

the foto was taken before all the snow came, just so you don't think i'm overdoing it

Pretty cool lookin' scoot! And CONGRATS on getting your license!
Winter riding ? As long as it's not raining, snowing or the wind gusting to ridiculous levels, then yes, I'll dress for it & ride.

Congrats on getting your license. Now it's time for you to get out there & run up the miles & burn up those roads.

Tnx......huh...it didn't last long tough :? Just came home from a buddy.....we were out riding and suddenly the bike became wery loud, and i discoverd that the exhaust had come loose. Ok that was an easy fix, but when we were about to ride again the gearbox made som really scary noises.....it kept jumping out of gear when it got rev's and made awful noises. So my dad had to come pick me up with a trailer
The wery last thing i want to do this cristmas is to take apart the engine (done it twice already  ) I have changed the whole gear-mechanism earlier, and i hope it's just a minor problem with it.....time will show...
But riding it works great, even with sumer-tires in the snow :D

Bummer.
You probably know the inner workings of the Tempo much better than most of us would. Am assuming that the gearbox shares the same oil as the engine & that the oil level is correct. Possibly something to do with the gear selector forks or camplate, maybe even clutch related, with lesser thoughts being broken gear teeth or worn bearings.
Always wise to proceed with the faster, easier possibilities before going inside to look for deeper problems. You might check clutch adjustment & see if that has any effect.
Please keep us posted on what you find.
Edit: Most common causes for transmission jumping out of gear would be bent or worn shift forks or worn selector dogs. If worn, under the torque (load) of acceleration or deceleration, it can cause the gears to disengage (jump)

The beast is alive again  !!
haha....I open'd the clutch side cover and did a check on the gear selector fork.....Everything was in perfect order, and when i turned the wheel it had no problem selecting trough the gears....so i put it in first gear and held tight on to the clutch itself , while turning the wheel...It didn't pop out of gear at all, but i could still turn the wheel without the clutch turning....Here's the fun part, the front sprocket had come loose  lol! The sprocket itself was fine, and the axel and nut was also fine. So i cleaned the whole thing up with thinner, and threw on some locktite on the threads then out the whole thing back togeather.
It works fine now.(just came back in after a ride)
lol, atleast i got an oil change.....haha

Congrats! You're back on the road again!
So with the front sprocket loose, was it allowing the transmission mainshaft to move, which made the tranny jump out of gear ?

It never really jumped out of gear, it just fealt that way. When i got higer rev's the axle that the sprocket was on just kept spining around, and the sprocket didn't move at all. That aslo explaines the scary noises i heard...
That bike looks alot like my newest bike, a 1972 Honda CB100

Cool, Are...Glad you caught it in time & it didn't turn out to be something serious.
A new bike in the stable, eh, CTC ? Far out! Does it have duals ? LOL! Only kidding. My experience with Japanese bikes has been very limited & only in recent years. The OL as a '74 CL175 (w/duals) & 3400 original miles. She scored it for $500 & at that time, they were selling on eBay for $1000-$1700, but last time I looked, the prices were down to around $700 or so, so we waited too long for re-sale.
the 100 is a rest project that I will cart around to the rally and sit out front of the room for people to look at. On my way to pay the guy for it now. I guess I'll come out on the deal, had to pay $250 for it, O the piracy  and it even runs and rides. I'll get some pics of it over the holidays.
