I wonder if I ordered a larger gas tank a guage might come with it. The larger motorcycles in the dealership had guages. Jerry

just make sure you reset your tripometer every fillup and know at what mileage you need to start looking for a gas station. There is really no way to do it, no any other tanks out there that would fit.

Thank you Big J for your excellent information. I do have another question, I was wondering about the ability of the rebel for long trips. At average speed of 65mph would the Rebel hold up to a trip from Tennessee to Iowa?

I'm not so sure about a long range trip at 65 MPH. At the moment I have 4800+ miles problem free. But most of my riding is @50 MPH. Personally, if I did a trip like that I'd be on the slow roads taking in all the scenery. I'd like to hear other input/experiences.

Yes, it will handle long trips fine, my wife put several 500 to 1000 miles round trips on her rebel. We usually ride 100 miles and stop for gas and a strech to keep from getting to worn out.

If you don't already have one, you'll probably want to get a windshield before setting off on long high speed trips. Really knocks the wind off you and makes for a more enjoyable ride. Haven't had mine long enough to tell, but most foks say they also improve gas mileage. Good luck, and enjoy the trip if you decide to go. Let us know how it turns out!

I just added a windsheild to my Rebel today, and I could feel the difference as soon as I got it up to about 50. I still get lots of wind, but without it I'd be leaning forward and feeling like I was about to go airborne at 60. With the windsheild, I can sit much more comfortably. and I feel more stable on the road. I just ran my tank out today for the first time, just to see how many miles before I should look for gas. I pulled over and switched the fuel valve to the other position. No problem. After some experience, I should be able to do it on the fly.

Dig around at the other Rebel forum and you'll find discussion of installing the fuel tank from a Tank Vision 250 R3. The Vision 250 is one of the Chinese knock off Rebels and comes with a 3.7 gallon fuel tank with a large spot for the speedometer. You could probably find a way to install a fuel gauge in that spot, and it would look factory.
