View Full Version : exhaust stud broke off in rebel head

so my exhaust in connecked into the head of the bike on one of the 4 "studs" is broke off into the head and it's sounds like air is getting out there and i want to know if i need to find some one to drill get a ez out to get it out (if it is a stud and not a bolt) or just get a mac welder and weld another stud right on top of the other one. or even something else so yall please let me know what to do thanks

Drilling out and going back with a helicoil is the fix that most use when they have that problem.

Over the years I have had probably a half a dozen bolts/studs broke off and I have good luck with a left hand twist drill bit and an ez out. Ninety percent of the time I don't even need the ez out. The drill bit will grab the stud and spin it out. Just make sure drill motor is reverse mode. This method has only failed me once and I had to to as Big-J suggested.
