i am planning on taking my rebel down to georgia for the winter.
i cannot find a motorcycle trailer to rent. i looked for trailers on ebay and ran across this tow accessory for motorcycles.
www.hhauler.com
the manual says not to tow the rebel as it will ruin the transmission. i'm not sure why it would if the bike is in neutral. however, i have no mechanical backround.
anyone have any thoughts/experience on this??
thanks
andie

On a Japanese bike, the engine needs to run to get oil to the transmission output shaft and shift forks.
When towing a Japanese bike on the rear wheel, engine off, there is a chance the shaft and shift forks could run dry. So you might want to pull the chain. You can peel it away from the rear sprocket, and zip tie it to the swing arm or chain guard. That way, you don't have to pull the chain completely off. Some people have been towing chain/shaft on by simply adding more oil to the crankcase. Once arrived, then they drain off the excess oil.
