If you want to stop buying individual rim strips everytime you do a tire change, just buy a good-sized roll of 10 mil Pipe Wrap (plumber's tape) It comes in different widths, but the 2" width should work for just about any application & one hefty roll of this stuff will last you a lifetime. Two layers of Pipe Wrap & no more messing with regular rim strips.

Good idea GJ.

I've heard of people even using good ole duct tape in a pinch as well.
But not only will the pipe sealing tape protect the tube from the spoke nuts but it will also seal the inside of the rim from moysture a little better then the rubber strips as well. Altho I don't think 2in. tape will work too well on a rim that is only 2 1/2 in. wide...LOL. 3/4 in. may work a little better on the smaller with rims.

Good point, "screamineagle", tho' I've used the 2" width on the 250 Rebel front rim when I changed the tire. But this stuff is cheap enough that one can buy a couple of rolls in different widths

Good ol' duct tape, a biker staple! LOL! Some guys will actually wrap layer upon layer of duct tape around their riding boots (under the heel & over the top & 'round again) so's they always have it on foot...er, hand, when needed, LOL!

I heard that about wraping the duct tape around your boots. I think I'll just carry it in my saddle bag....LOL.

I have actually used duct tape to get on of my cars home after having a blowout.
I had 20 miles to go, a new roll of tape, and a small electric air pump. Slaped the tape over the hole in the tire, pumped it up, road it till I felt it starting to wander, pulled over, wraped more tape on it, and pumped it up again. I did this till I got home....LOL.
