Is this happening in other areas of the country because of gas prices?

There has been a run on all 250s of every brand here in Utah, there are no more new Rebels, 250 v-stars, or gz 250s anywhere in the state.
Even used bikes that are 1 and 2 years old with dents in the tanks are selling for more than MSRP with no accessories on them, its crazy here. I saw a 2006 with 3K miles sell for $3500. I have been trying to get a new Rebel along with many other guys here in the city and the Honda dealer has been scouring all the surrounding states for weeks for them with little luck, they are getting a few brought in from dealers in the midwest, guess the weeks of rain and flooding are not good for sales there.

This morning I finally found a silver 2008 with 198 miles on it for my son, an older lady bought it new in April and then turned it back into the same Honda dealer to get a fourwheeler, I was lucky to be the first to see the ad this morning and bought it sight unseen over the phone for only $2800 when the dealer assured me there were no scratches or dents on it, he didn't realize the demand for this bike since he mostly deals in 4wheelers. I had to go 300 miles to get it.

Ran into the same situation here in western NY. Decided on the Rebel and then tried to shop around, first dealer I went to had one on the floor wouldn't move on the price so told him I wanted to "shop around." Well every where else I tried either told me they would put me on a list w/o much hope of receiving any more stock. One dealer told me he wished he had 30 more of them. Wouldn't receive any more until after his order request went into Honda this Sept. Needless to say I called the 1st dealer back ask him if he still had it then told him I'd be there in an hour and to be sure to put my name on it. Finish up the MSF rider course this weekend and ready to roll.

I just bought a 2007 here with 100 miles on it for $2,500 . I think because people out grow them pretty fast there are several for sale here on Craig's most of the time . That said they are asking more than what I paid for mine . I might add that our economy is been pretty hard on many of our Detroiters , and it's pretty much a buyer's market .

I'm in west GA, and my '08 should be arriving here on Friday...from Michigan. They actually had 2 of them, and before I could call them back and buy the second one as well, it was sold.

I purchased one at Hidy Honda in Troy, Ohio yesterday. They still had one silver one left. They said it would probably be their last one until the 2009's come out.

Hey there Ronoharold, I gather that you may live close to Troy. That is my old "stomping grounds" but I now live in Englewood. I ride a 2004 Red Rebel 250 with clear fairing, bags, backrest bar, and luggage rack. I am retired and ride all around the southwest Ohio area. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your bike!
