So, im thinking of converting my rebel into a Rigid frame with struts. But before I do this, I wanted to ask some of the guys that have rigid bikes how bad the ride is. Im going to put a spring seat on it. Does this really beat the hell out of you, or does the spring seat make a good difference. I just dont want to put all the time into making it a rigid with a different fender, then realizing that its going to beat me up and not be fun to ride. I realize that its going to be rougher then with shocks, and I dont mind, but I want to be able to take a 200 mile trip too.

The spring seat will offer some relief from the gut busting, but not nearly as much as the shocks. Everyone has a differnt tollerance for a rigid ride, you might love it where someone else may only be good for 20 miles. I really depends on the road, it can be your best friend or worst enemy when riding rigid.

Take your shocks out and replace them with solid bars,go for a short rip and make your mind up.The sprung seat will soak some up.I rode a rigid frame triumph for 16 years and still have both kidneys. You will also notice more engine vibration but nothing like my bonny used to make.Talked more than one guy out of this mod that way.
