86 Rebel 450 and long distance trips advice please

Greetings:

I will be going on a 1000+ mile trip on my 1986 CMX 450 in a few months and need some advice. My knees get sore being in the same position for long periods so which works better, floorboards or engine guards with pegs? I'm 5'0" with a 28" inseam and I already have some bulky boots to help with the height issue.

I would say BOTH, because floor boards do away with the foot cramp you often get from pegs and the crash bars with highway pegs offer an alternate position to change things up when on get uncomfortable. But you could always start with te crash bars and add floor boards later.
