just bought a 1986 Rebel 450 today, wasn't going to get another bike but couldn't pass it up, it has 18,000 miles, seems to run good except the seats have been redone and have no padding in them(ouch), and the narrower pull back handlebars seem odd compared to my 250 but I guess that is the way the bike was made.

My question -- I can not figure out where one hose goes, it is just tied off in a knot, I looked through the previous posts and saw one post last year that mentioned the 450 carb hoses and tank hoses but that did not answer my problem, and one post before that said the petcock works off of vacuum.

On my tank petcock there is the big hose, and then on forward side there is a small short hose to the back of the left cylinder, both of those are intact, but the third hose, a small one about 6 inches long that is on the back side of the petcock next to the big one, it is attached to the petcock on one end, but the other end is tied itself in a knot, Can't see where the other end is supposed to go. Any help would be appreciated. Also since I do not know where everything is located, beside telling my what to hook it to, can you also tell my where that is located. Thanks

is the hose you are refering to between the other 2 hoses?? if so then it does not go anywere.. in fact no hose is needed there.. I talked to jack at rebel warehouse about this very thing not long ago... he called it an air brake I believe.. anyway when your diaphram goes back in the petcock it will spit gas out of that spot.. maybe it was doing that and the previous owner pout a hose on it and tied the knot in it.. hope this helped..
