I want to bob out my Rebel. I've been thinking about putting a sportster tank on, lowering the back end and putting a bobber fender on the back and some different bars.. Question is, I've heard of guys shortening the rear shocks to lower it. I dont know of any aftermarket shocks that are shorter then the stock ones, so thats out. If you shortened the spring in the shocks, that would pretty much take out your lower travel as it would bottom out.

An easy way to solve this would be to just take the shocks out and make some struts for a rigid frame, but I don't know if I want to sacrifice the suspension for a rough ride. Anyone had experience with shortening shocks?

If you end up putting on struts, put a spring seat on it, I used one on the '02 bike I built last year, it still had the shocks, but i believe it would have been a decent ride had it been a hard tail.
