Gas Leak

I have recently purchased a 2000 Rebel 250. Great little bike. I have had it about two weeks. Today I noticed a wet spot underneath the bike. When I checked it out it was gas that appears to be leaking out of the overflow hose that connects to the carburetor. The bike was sitting overnight with the fuel selector on the "on " position. It's been left the on position several times before with no evidence of a leak. The tank is also nearly empty. Is this normal?

Souds like the float might be stuck open, a good carb cleaning should help solve the problem. Its not a hard job if wish to attempt it yourself.
