new rebel owner with question ..

hello everyone.. I just bought a 1987 rebel 450 and I was wondering what type and weight of oil is recommended for it??? I was told it is a wet clutch and requires a special oil.. and another person told me use 10w 40 so now im confused.. thx for your help.. mark

Motorcycle oil is best, it is formulated for wet clutches, where standard auto oil is not so much. I run Lucas Oil 20w/50 full synthetic motorcycle oil in all my bikes. Its about $8.99 a quart here, but I have had good luck with it. I would call the local shop where you are and just ask whats the best weight oil for your conditions, weather and temp. can make a diference between on weight verses another.
