Hello everyone,

Are we back in business?
Am I the first ( or should I say second) to get in here?

Back - yes, but not 100%

This is my first experience with being hacked, so the recovery is going slower than I would like.

There is still a bug or two to be worked out but for the most part things are moving forward.

Far out! Your efforts are much appreciated, CTC. You're not only getting the site back up to snuff, but I see you've installed a couple new options, such as the "right click navigator". Excellent!

Glad to see it back on line. Even if it's not 100%. WTG CTC!!!!!!

Now as far as the right click navagation. I'm not too sure I like that part.
I just finished doing the write up on the right hand switches, and the ignition switch and can't get it on here because I copy and past everything from my computer so I can keep a copy (just in case things go wrong and I need to repost it.....aaahemmm).

When I right click to try to past it on here the navagation screen comes up. I sure would hate to have to rewrite the whole thing in here.
Is there any way to just add a navagation button? Either that or add a paste button to the nav. screen?
Without it I think alot of write ups won't get posted. And posting pics would be a pain as well.

Hmmm....I see your point, "screamineagle". Hadn't thought of that earlier.

If both options (navigation and copy & paste) aren't possible to coordinate somehow, then I'd also vote for the copy & paste ability since Tech Tips such as the one you wrote for rebuilding the switches would seem to take priority & one could easily navigate the old way (which I seem to be doing anyways, LOL!)

Once you have your info copied, to paste yor info, go to the edit tab at the top of the browser, click edit and then paste. it will take care of it. 8)

Ok, cool deal CTC. I'll have to try that.

GREAT!!!! It worked. Thanks CTC.

GJ, go take a look. It might give you an idea of what your up against with your switch.

Hey CTC, what's with the F$ ? What can we spend it on and where?

And just a side note. I just completed the write up (with pics) of the handlebar and ignition switches.

Now I need to figgure out what else I'm going to get into....LOL.

Thats the post that sort of gives you an idea of what the Forum Dollars are all about.

Ok cool, I got the idea now. Looks like it's going to be intresting to see what you will have to offer.

BTW, since I have your attention here, I still have that old rusted out '85 fule tank if you still want it for a project. I have pics of it if you want to see them. And I won't charge you for the tank, just the shipping. Just let me know something.

Just read your Tech Tips on the Starter Switch & Ignition Switch, "screamineagle". Once again, you've done an EXCELLENT & thorough job! VERY impressive & helpful! Man, I've seen tech article writers in bike magazines that could learn a thing or two from you. Very well done!

Both of these switches appear to be REAL similar to the ones on the 450 (actually might be for all I know) Next season, while you're cleaning your carb, I'll be working on these switches, LMAO!

Hey there GJ,

Again, thanks for the Kudos.
I try to write it as if I was looking at it for the first time and not know what to expect.
I try to take pics of every step, and every part.
After years of reading repair manuals ( they make great bathroom reading material by the way) I come to the conclusion that, altho they do have a very skilled mechanic doing the physical brakedown, they are nothing but writers working from notes they took while looking over the mechanics shoulder.
I love the parts where they tell you to take this part off (figure29), then remove that part. Then they don't show you what THAT part is.

Magazines seem to be writen for people that know how to work on bikes and don't realy need to read the articals in the first place. Not for the novice that is just getting his/her feet wet in the (hobby, lifestyle, sport) yet still is mechanicly inclined.
Hey, maybe we should start up our own magazine. Just for Rebels. We can call it Yankee Rebel Riders.

Anyway, goodluck with your switches, hope my write up will help you out. I may need some luck to get that carb out.

Ok, I justed noticed the [donate] button at the bottom of your names. Don't leave a guy out in the cold here. How'd you get that there?

GearJammer

Yep, manuals leave much to be desired & often make things sound "easy". They'll say things like "Remove the fill in the blank and then open up the thingamabob"...what they don't tell you is that trying to open up the thingamabob will take 3 hrs. to figure out, LOL! Admittedly, the older manuals used to be a lot more detailed & user friendly.

I've no doubt that your Tech Tips will be extremely helpful when I get to do the switches. Already printed out your first one & will be printing out the other two as well.

When you get to pulling the carb, please be sure to give us a shout if you have any questions. The manual is actually pretty good in regards to the carb cleaning procedure, but they still probably left something out, LOL!

(I think the "donate" shows for others but not for the person who is logged on & vice versa)...

CTC, I tried to copy & paste the way you instructed, but the "navigator" function still came up. I was able to do the "copy" part, but when I clicked on "edit" at the upper tool bar, wasn't able to do the "paste" part.

(Was trying to move my last post in your Rebel Pin Poll to a new topic about aftermarket parts so's not to hi-jack your Poll thread)

It's probably something I'm not doing right, but I can't figure it out. Help, please.... :)
