Well that is pretty much the sound my buddys rebel is making rights now. I will give everyyone the hole story though, He was riding a wheelie on it about two monthes ago got up to 12 o'clock scraped the rear fender on the ground freaked out and dumped the bike. The aftermath, bent the right foot peg through the crank case cover, bent the bars, and severely wounded his ego. We got the peg and frame bent back into place and replaced the crank case cover but now that shes a runnin again you cant take it past half throttle without it cutting out and popping, it does it if you are just revving it as well but if you hold it it will smooth out a little...We tested it for spark and it had a nice fat blue spark, last night we pulled the carb and cleaned it but so far our efforts have been in vain...Does any one have any ideas??? Thank You

Oh ya it is an 06 Reb 250

Welcome aboard, 06Reb and sorry to hear of the mishap. Without meaning to sound like "preaching", one can only hope that your friend has learned from this unfortunate experience that the 250 Reb isn't built for pulling straight-up vertical wheelies, LMAO!

Under normal circumstances, popping is usually caused by a bike with a carbuerator or other mods that have created a "too lean" condition. It sounds like this Reb took a pretty hard tumble, so you really want to look everything over on that bike very closely.

It's possible that the popping in this case is the result of an air leak somewhere's. Please check to insure that all hoses are still attached & don't have any holes punctured in them. Other areas for air leaks can sometimes be found at the carb/manifold joint, the manifold/head joint or the exhaust pipe/head joint where the pipes are attached to the exhaust ports......

Also considering the force that may have been involved, you might check to make sure that the head itself wasn't damaged. If there's any air getting in thru the head/cylinder gasket, that would also be considered an air leak into the combustion chamber......
