I have a National Cycle Streetshield Ex on my 85-250 and love it. I have the cutout about 3/4" above the headlight and the top of the windshield is just about level with the middle if my face. I can see over the top just about perfect. I am very happy with the installation execpt that the lower part covers the top two thirds of the turn lights. The lower section of the windshield is black. With the installation as is there is very little turbulance coming under the windshield. If I raise it high enough to clear the turn lights I have lots of turbulance coming under the windshield and is not acceptable.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Thanks---Art

My first thought would be fabbing up some type of extensions for the turn signals.....stout enough to hold 'em straight & simply extending the wiring......

Or if it's feasible, maybe installing brackets on the inside edges of the windshield & mounting the turn signals from there ?

Consider sawing a curve to clear the lights?

But I have to ask:

What exactly is the problem?

Does it hit the siggies? Is there a rattle?

Or is it the glare off the shield when you're turning at night?

Or do you just not like the look?

A little clarification here could help a lot ;)

Ok I am going to see if I can clear this up a bit.

Yes I considered cutting out a circle at each one. I sent an email to customer service at National Windshield and first asked if there was any way to remove some the black finish and the answer was no not possible so then asked about making cut outs. The answer there was that it is possible but the material is brittle and could cause cracks. Have thought about covering both sides with masking tape and very carefully cutting out the material with a jig saw with a narrow blade. But the possibility of ruining the windshield worrys me. Has anybody else done this?

No it doesn't hit the turn lights or rattle and glare is not a problem.

As I said in my original post the lower section of the windshield is black and doesn't look right as is but would be ok if there was no black finish and the turn lights could be seen through the windshield.

The problem is with the black finish covering a large part of the turn lights on coming traffic is only seeing a part of a flashing light as opposed to a full round flashing light. With diminished visabiity the turn lights when flashing are much harder to see. If anything motorcycles need brighter turn lights not dimmer.

Not sure how the turn signals are made on that year model, but on my 05 the turn signals can be loosened up and then slid down the fork tube below the windshield. May have to add some wire though.
Your description of your windshield sounds just like mine only mine doesnt have the black, yet. Am planning on doing that and a few other things this winter as I have time to. And so my lights can be seen, I am going to have to slide my turn signals down the tubes some so they can be seen.
