Wanted to offer it here first.........My apologies for the poor quality of the pics. I put the front fender back on, original paint on that.

Handlebars are from a Triumph ('73 T140, 750cc)
P-pad was messed up when I got the bike, so I removed the upholstery, lowered the padding to approx. 2".
Includes fork bag and saddlebags with handmade saddlebag brackets.
Headers were cut and 12" EMGO Shorties installed. Headers were also painted black, but I didn't rough up the chrome so the header paint either needs to be re-done, removed, or wrapped.
Bike has been lowered using shocks from a 250 Rebel.
Stock tail light has been removed, a cat's eye tail light is installed under the rear fender.
Good rubber on tires.
In-line fuel filter installed.
No chainguard.

Needs:

Paint. A dish-type dent on the gas tank in front of seat was filled in, but that needs to be smoothed out.
Fork seals - I have the new seals, which are included.
Headlight has intermittent short, so I've been running the bike with the headlight fuse removed. Pretty sure the short is in the right-hand control switch.

Pluses:

New CDI.
New battery.
New final drive chain.
Recent oil change.

Also includes:

New bulk final drive chain, probably enough for 3 chain changes.
2 new oil filters.
2 new air filter elements.
OEM Service Manual.
Clymer's Service Manual.

Runs like a top.........$1200 Firm for the whole enchilada. Will ship if buyer arranges shipping.

I'm getting older and decided that it's time to downsize. The Reb is one of 3 runners, also have a 4th Triumph project.....both the Reb & the project are going. I'd rather maintain the 2 runners, get more saddle-time in & help others when needed & it'll be one less insurance payment.

A friend here is shoppnig (probably for an older BMW), but I let him ride the Reb, I rode the Sporty & we did 140 miles that day. He was very impressed with the Reb, but he's also got back probs & needs just the "right" bike to keep his posture correct. We were averaging 70-75 mph that day, the Reb is very content in that area. He told me that just the bike itself is worth $1500, but I only want what I've got into it. It's obviously not immaculate, a few dents on the headlight shell, etc. it REALLY needs paint & some general cleaning up. The indie shop owner who I bought it from told me that the bike had been "one big oil leak".....when I pulled the rear fender for the mods, I literally used a putty knife to scrape 1/8" coat of built-up grime off the frame. He'd changed the head gasket & put it up for sale. The Reb was truly a road dog & obviously had been very well ridden before I got it. It's still an old road dog, but that doesn't bother me, LOL! I keep riding it to keep the battery & carbs up to snuff. The work that needs to be done can be done whenever or it can be ridden as is (I'm ridin' it ;))

When I first got it, discovered that the key was loose in the ignition switch (tumblers ?) I can literally remove the key while the bike is running but it doesn't effect anything other than that. I just put a coiled key ring around the handlebars with a snap-ring on one end, snap it on the key ring & go for it, no problem at all. If the key were to vibrate out (which it never has), it won't get lost. Also have another spare key for it.

Well, all I can say is, if there's any 250 Rebel riders that want to make a serious power and speed upgrade, here's your chance. Not a lot of these left, and we all know how Gearjammer takes care of his stuff. I'm sure glad I made the jump. And Gearjammer, you'd better not plan on going off to another board. We don't give up our knowledge easily around here. Don't make me come down there....

Thanx, Brother! I've enjoyed both the 250 & 450, but as you've also found out, they're two entirely different animals.

Over the years, have frequented various boards, some a bit more "hardcore" if you will (no reflection on those there or those here)....but there's no shortage of knowledge on many of those other boards & my preference these days is to try to help others, some of whom are just starting on their riding Journey.......I can honestly say that this is the ONE board/rider's forum that I frequent regularly anymore and will try my best to continue for as long as I'm welcome.....

Ride Safe, All.......

Just curious, GJ... what happened to the side rear mirror for the right handlebar?

GearJammer

The mirror you see is the only one that came with the bike when I bought it, txsizzler, & I'm pretty sure even that one isn't stock. It's kinda tall, but it works ;)

Ahhhh... I figured you would have replaced the missing one is all.

hehehe.....some would be surprised that the front brake is still on there, LMAO!

Teasing in saying that ;)..........I prefer choppers & traditionally run with no front fender, no front brake, no turn signals, one mirror, a bicycle bulb horn, etc.

When buying this Reb, I'd commented that the droopy, electrically-taped turn signals would be coming off (and they did) and that I'd be losing the front brake. The shop owner said "The pads are new. And brakes are our friends!" Left the front brake on & no complaints, it also saves on rear brake pad wear. Same/same with a modified Sporty I acquired last fall.....removed the front fender & stashed it, left the front disc brake in place.....friggin' compromising at THIS age ? LMAO!

I got my 250 Rebel... first bike... in may. Oh I love her! But hitting the freeways she just can't keep up. But I LOVE the style. And darn Honda only made a few 450s. I'd buy that beaut off you so fast, if only you were in Ohio. =^)

I was lookin for a 450 but they are hard to find in my area so I went a much larger upgrade, a v45 Magna. I thought I had been on some quick bikes but I was so wrong. But still, I wish I was closer to ya so I could at least test drive it. I really want to see how the 450s run. I am really pleased with my little 250 so far. Thinkin now that the v45 was a BAD idea. Waaay too fast.

If you ever get a chance to test ride one, you won't be disappointed & it's gotta be getting close to 65 mpg.

Four things maybe worthy of mention that I've noticed with the 450:

1) First gear barely gets one thru the light from a standing stop before wanting to shift into 2nd.
2) It's considerably heavier.....I found the 450 to feel a bit top-heavy until putting the 250 shocks on it. The 250 weighs what ? about 310 lbs. ? Had taken both the 450 Reb & the chopped Trumpet to a weigh station & they let me use it. The 450 Reb weighed in at 380 lbs., the 650 Triumph at 360 lbs., notable difference.
3) The 450 Reb is one of the most COMFORTABLE bikes I've ever ridden.
4) That 6th gear really settles down for some serious rollin'......

Yeah, ole Ed, I did the same thing when I was younger, and my kids were little. I sold the V45 after 1 year, because I could see myself getting into SERIOUS trouble. Now that I'm fossilized, and have a lot more years of riding under my belt, and a little more restraint on the twist-throttle (very little, sometimes) I stepped up to the 65. It's scary fast at 116 h.p., but if you keep your hand out of it, it's a very smooth ride and, even with Cupcake on the back, will pass anything that gets in your way! But I do think a person's life expectancy is longer on a Rebel!

Won't keep up?

How fast are you trying to go?

I can get 80, and a bit more, out of every one I've ever owned.
