Hi from Salt Lake City, I have a new 2007 Rebel that I traded for. I had a cherry 72 yamaha enduro with only 500 miles on it and I made a deal with the honda dealer on a trade for a new 2007 rebel. I think I came out the better, I love the rebel, even though I had to cough up $1500 difference. I have done some minor changes (bags, pegs etc.) I would like to change the exhaust (EMGO) and put a 30 tooth rear sprocket on. Anyway, give me a shout when in Salt Lake City...good riding here and quite a few rebels running around town. Bugsy!

Welcome to the forum, Bugsy! Sounds like you got a great deal on your trade-in! Some nice mods you are wanting to make there as well! I have decided to just stick with the factory settings on mine, except I would like to get a sissy bar/seat, as well as saddlebags for my '06 Rebel. Anyhow, be safe and have fun! :D
Finally! Somebody that lives within a thousand miles of my place! Everytime these guys have a get-together, I have to quit my job and sell my place to be able to attend. If I want to ride with Bugsy, All I have to do is take 3 weeks vacation and sell my firstborn to pay for the gas! Sweeeet.

Welcome Bugsy & good deal on the new Reb! ;)
Just something to keep in mind if you're going to swap out to EMGO's. I ran 'em on both the 250 & 450 Rebs and they sound very decent.....but where I messed up in both installations was that I cut the stock pipes in the wrong place.
You'll notice that little stock upsweep between header pipe & muffler. I'd made the cut at the LOW side of the upsweep, which allowed the EMGO's to be installed in a straight line with the end of the headers. Only problem is, the EMGO's will scrape on heavy leans. If I'd made the cut at the TOP of the upsweep, it would have allowed the needed road clearance to avoid that scraping. Someone else here did their's the correct way & it looks great, my apologies for not remembering who it was as they haven't been around for awhile.

Thanks for the info...did you go with the longer 23" or the shorter 19" ? Someone said the longer sounds better (not so ratty and no re-jet required) I run a 2007 and may need to re-jet at my altitude..4500 ft.

Responded to your PM, so some of this may be repetitive....
I ran the EMGO 12" Shorties on the 250 & am running those same slip-ons on the 450. My 250 was an '85, so no re-jetting was needed. On your '07, I believe you could get away without a re-jet if you go with either the 23" or 19" slip-ons as they should be long enough to provide the needed backpressure.....and if you leave the airbox stock. If you alter/open up the airbox, I'm not positive if you'd need to re-jet or not.
Essentially, the longer the pipe, the deeper the tone should be.....but if I sense that you'd prefer the 19", you'd probably be just fine with those.....

Hey Jammer! thanks for the info.....that really helps. I can't wait to put on the pipes. I think I will go with the EMGO's 19" and cut my pipes where you recommended. This means I will have the original equalizer pipe joining the two pipes together...do you think this will make a difference in power or sound? Anyway, thanks so much......Bugzy

Thanx, but I can't take credit for the suggested area of cut as that was "jodilain" & "amcline's" idea, which impressed me immediately when I saw it back then. Unfortunately, they haven't been around for awhile, but it'd be interesting to see how things are going for them along with the additional input they could possibly offer.
I honestly don't know how the equalizer/balancer pipe would effect either power or sound, but on both the 250 & 450, I left that pipe in place & had/have no complaints....
